Geoffrey R. Stone

Geoffrey R. Stone (born 1946) is an American law professor and noted First Amendment scholar. He is currently the Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School.
==Biography==
A member of the law faculty since 1973, Stone served as Dean of the Law School from 1987-1994, and as Provost of the University of Chicago from 1994-2002. After graduating from the University of Chicago Law School, Stone served as a law clerk to Judge J. Skelly Wright of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and then to Justice William J. Brennan Jr. of the Supreme Court of the United States.〔(Geoffrey R. Stone Faculty Homepage at University of Chicago )〕 He served as Interim Dean of the Law School from July 1, 2015 to November 1, 2015 while the School searched for a replacement for Michael H. Schill.
Stone is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Constitution Society, the Board of Advisors of the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Chair of the Board of the Chicago Children's Choir. He has served as a Vice President of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of American Law Schools.
